About Us

We Are Systematic is a digital product design agency based in the UK, part of the Snapp Mobile family of companies. We design digital products of all types for our clients, from apps to websites, wearables to in-car experiences. We specialise in evidence-based design, and one of our founding philosophies is that research, design and development are not separate but rather all different flavours of the same thing.

We’re a startup but have managed to establish ourselves quickly and sustainably through high-quality work and a methodical and consistent approach to projects. As one of the first members of a growing team, this is an opportunity to help build and grow the business whilst working alongside some generally excellent and lovely people.

We work fully remote, so this role is open to anyone with a decent timezone overlap (GMT ±4 hours seems about right). However, we have clusters of people around Brighton, London, Munich and Berlin, plus coworking opportunities in Lisbon so proximity to one of these clusters would allow you to take advantage of occasional coworking and/or social meetups.

The Role

As a product designer, you will sit at the very heart of our design work.

Sometimes working across multiple projects, you will be designing the user experience for apps, websites, in-car systems and other devices. We design for people – wherever they happen to be.

Depending on the project, you might be paired with a small team of other designers, developers and researchers to deliver product ideas in short 6-week design cycles. Or, you might spend some time embedded with a client team, consulting on best practice and our own evidence-based design framework (EBD).

Our flagship service is the design cycle, which is a bit like a design sprint stretched over 6-8 weeks.

This gives our designers space to think and flexibility to do their best work, whilst retaining some structure making sure the deadline is always near and retaining a fast delivery rate for our clients.

This role is all about core product thinking and user experience. You are the connecting piece with client business goals, user needs and research insights on one side, and high fidelity UI, prototypes and development on the other.

The role blends core UX work (journey mapping, sketching, wireframing in figma and general problem solving) and product strategy: understanding the right problems to solve, the right ideas to progress to achieve best outcomes for our clients.

We don’t (currently) have project managers, so this role is client facing and self organising. You will lead workshops and design review sessions.

You will report to the Head of Design, but you will be accountable to your project teams and your clients.

You might also be mentoring, guiding or managing junior colleagues.

Who we’re looking for

The ideal candidate will have several years experience designing, managing or developing a variety of digital products, both app and web.

Strong experience (and lessons learned) in user experience, usability, human centred design, human computer interaction and digital product development are a must.

The ideal candidate will need to have an appreciation for the full design and product delivery process so some experience or understanding of user research and modern digital product development is important.

We’re looking for a methodical and strategic thinker who likes to show their working and try a few ideas before settling on the right one, who doesn’t skip steps or jump too quickly to solutions. You recognise the devil is in the details.

You adhere to best practises but are always interested in new ways of doing things or to improve your existing toolkit.

In many ways, this role is about storytelling. Being empathetic about user needs, curious and critical are vital skills. As is finding the simplicity in complex concepts and design problems. You’re always happy to grab a marker or spin up a simple wireframe to help communicate and iterate on ideas quickly and collaboratively.

We believe in process, and we believe process is everyone’s responsibility. You’ll be helping to define and improve the way we do things as well as benefiting from the structure and learnings laid down to date.

Finally, you’re happy to be client facing to help foster and grow our relationships through your expertise and quality of work.
